Book signing by Tyler Alexander for his release of  “If I Can Get Home This Fall: A Story of Love, Loss, and a Cause in the Civil War.”

It’s remarkable story about a soldier from Glover, VT, Dan Mason, who served in a VT unit before becoming an officer in an all-Black regiment, the 19th US Colored Troops. He wrote four years’ worth of incredible letters to a young woman back home who he was deeply in love with. In addition, he strongly believed in abolishing slavery and frequently defended the honor and courage of the Black troops he led. He survived every major battle in the eastern theater.
